1941/42 Eastern Winter Campaign Medal

This medal is better known as the Russian Front Medal. This one shows signs of wear. Some of the finish has flaked away from the zinc. This is common with most zinc based medals. They do not hold their finish well. It still shows nicely. The ribbon is very short (1 5/8 inches long). It seems almost as if the soldier cut the excess to have ribbon to sew through his button hole. There are those that like pristine items and those that like evidence of wear. This one says...I have been at the front.

Wound Badge in Silver

This is a great wound badge in silver. It shows some wear to the raised portions, but still retains quite a bit of the original frosting in the recessed areas. This tells you that it was actually worn by the vet and not a warehouse find after the war. It is marked, "65" on the reverse.

Luftwaffe Anti-Aircraft Artillery Combat Badge

Also called the Luftwaffe Flak Badge, this is a later war issued piece. It is made of zinc and the silver finish on the front has worn away. This is very common with the zinc made badges. The detail to the eagle, wreath, and gun still remain. The reverse still retains approximately 65% of its silver finish. This one has the ball type hinge with a flat brass catch. This is a nice badge and worthy of any collection.

October 1, 1938 Commemorative Medal

This medal is also known as the Sudetenland medal, as it was issued for meritorious service in the reuniting of the Sudetenland to Germany. It shows just a little of its original gold finish which has given way to the bronze, from which the medal was made. The ribbon has some soiling spots, but still displays well. All in all...a nice little medal worthy of any collection!

Wound Badge in Silver

This is a nice wound badge in silver. It is a mid to late war piece which is made from zinc. With this being the case, it has some tarnish. I will leave this up to the new owner, as to clean or not to clean. Most of the tarnish is on the reverse. I love the way the details in this the badge stand out. The badge is maker marked 65 for the maker of Klein & Quenzer, Idar/Oberstein. A nice makers marked badge for any collection. U.S. Shipping-Insured Priority Mail on this item would be $6.95. First Class shipping is also available. Email me for a quote. If ordering multiple items, the total weight and value of the combined items in the package will determine the postage.

War Merit Cross without Swords

This award was instituted on October 18, 1939 to recognize service not in direct connection with combat. It was worn on the lower left breast pocket of the tunic. This particular example is made of zinc. It is maker marked on the reverse pin. To me, it looks like 37 for the maker of Adolf Aumeister, Ludenscheid. The badge is in excellent shape. The pin may be a little loose when not affixed to a garment, but functions properly. A very nice example of a War Merit Cross withot Swords.
