This is a pristine armband worn by members of the U. S. Army Air Force Air Raid Warning Service. After Pear Harbor, it was unknown if Hawaii or the Contiential United States would be the target of another attack. As a by-product the Air Raid Warning Service was formed by the U. S. A. F. It was staffed with civilians who volunteered to coordinate defense efforts in their local areas. This arm band almost looks brand new. It has a few faint age spots on it from storage, but obviously was never issued. The ends remain unsewn. It is folded in thirds for the scan but is approximately 18 inches in length by 4 1/4 inches in height. A great piece of homefront WWII history!
